55 | Micro-packing

Me: “Aliyah, you are a delight.”
Aliyah: “Mom, you are a pickle.”

What I’m up to
Passively watching Island of the Sea Wolves next to Trent. Both kids are resting and we’re on our computers. Mid-writing this email, Aliyah gets up and I grab her Leap Frog computer so she can join us.
Mentally packing even if I’m just sitting on the couch (like right now). Moving with kids feels like a different type of moving than I’ve done before - not just because there’s more people to consider and more things to pack or sell, but because I don’t have a lot of intentional focussed time to pack and prepare. The time to do that comes in shorter bursts, knowing time is limited. That said, since I’ve been doing little bits every day for months, I don’t feel stressed about it right now. And I actually think I like this way of micro-packing.
What I’m reading
Pinterest has me pegged (ha) and I keep seeing blogs of how to style your home / wardrobe / Christmas like a Scandinavian. So I’m reading / clicking / dreaming.
I’m still working my way through Strong Like Water.
I plan on starting Courage Dear Heart by Rebecca Reynolds in the coming weeks. I read this book during my transition into Antalya back in 2018, and so I plan to read it during my transition to Calgary. I’m eager to see what hits differently / deeper or what emotions and memories come up as I read.
What I’m getting excited about
A fall and winter wardrobe. Here’s the vibe I’m going for. Let me know if you have store / item recommendations. Thrifting will be a big part of this!
Aliyah’s excitement. This girl goes to put her shoes on, at least once a day, and says she’s getting ready to go to Canada.

Having all of the pieces come together. We’re in such flux right now. There’s a Daniel Tiger song that goes: “It’s okay to feel sad sometimes; little by little, you’ll feel better again.” The other day I caught Trent singing, “Little by little, we’ll feel settled again.” YES.
What I’m Googling
uniqlo canada (we’ll be near a uniqlo again! i’m eyeing up their winter base layers.)
the parisian agency instagram (follow them here)
bumbo seat (selling ours and wondering how much to ask for.)
Until next week,
